Citarum River Water Pollution and Stress Responses in The Tolerant and Sensitive Fish

Severe river pollution creates a stressful environment for aquatic organisms, causing disturbances to their health and leading extinction. Thus, in this study, the stress responses of tolerant (Oreochromis niloticus) sensitive (Cyprinus carpio) fish Citarum River, Indonesia were investigated. The two groups exposed varying levels lengths water pollution, blood was sampled, identified. red cells (RBC) count, haemoglobin (HGB), haematocrit (HCT), white (WBC) glucose levels, derived haematological indices such as mean corpuscular volume (MCV), (MCH) concentration (MCHC), measured. Significant changes these indices, with tendential RBC HCT, observed, indicating that had occurred both fish. recorded more pronounced activities, greater amounts parameters being altered response exposure. This result suggested susceptible environmental stressors were, therefore, vulnerable extinction polluted natural environment.
